09/05/2010 Pillsbury Mountain, Adirondacks, NY Hike
« on: September 08, 2010, 02:51:33 AM »
My family and I have been trying to get out and do some hiking. I'm an old fart now at 37, my knees, back and shins took a beating while in the USMC so I've been having to do up my knees with braces and for next time to help, some hiking poles to keep my knees from getting so beat up. The last 2 years while hiking, my knees have been hurting so bad, I've almost not been able to get thru the pain, so with the added knee braces and hiking poles, I've been able to get back out there and enjoy some great mountain hiking.
This was our 2nd hike of the season.

Pillsbury Mountain with firetower, 3.2 miles round trip (RT)

It was a great day for a hike, temp was in the 50's-60's, cloudy with small mists of rain from time to time. When we got to the top, the wind was howling, with totally sweaty bodies, we ate lunch fast and got back on the trail for the decent. It took a little while to get warmed up again but still great hiking weather. Once we got back to the truck, a change into a dry shirt was a most and felt so good for the ride back to camp.

Stay tuned for hopefully some more 2010 hikes and the changing of the leaves that the trees are slowing just starting to turn colors in a few areas.
